Advancing Alzheimer’s Awareness

As we continue to explore health equity issues, DREF is proud to partner with the Alzheimer’s Association.

The three planned webinars are designed to increase awareness of Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia, share updates on research and treatment, discuss the importance of participation in clinical trials, and provide resources for caregivers.

About the Webinars

Participants will:

  • Learn about Alzheimer’s Disease and various forms of Dementia and how they impact the
African American Community.
  • Hear from researchers, medical practitioners, and caregivers
  • Get up-to-date research and best practices
  • Understand the importance of participation in clinical trials
  • Gain access to resources

The first webinar was held on June 18, 2025, entitled Preserving Memories. Protecting Legacies: Advancing Alzheimer’s Awareness and Research in Diverse Communities.

The second webinar was held on November 12, 2025, acknowledging November as National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month and National Family Caregivers Month, entitled Honoring Caregivers: A Conversation on Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care and Community.

Our third and final webinar will occur on February 12, 2026 in honor of Black History Month, as Black Americans are disproportionately impacted by Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia, entitled: Supporting Brain Health in Our Community.
