Stephanie Tubbs Jones Summer Intern – Omaima Lado
Attention Student Applicants! Check out the 2025 Stephanie Tubbs Jones Summer (STJ) Intern, Omaima Lado, Omicron Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Here is her reflection on the STJ summer experience:
“I am honored to share my experience as a Summer 2025 Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF) and Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Stephanie Tubbs Jones Intern in the Office of Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (D–Ohio), a distinguished member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. As a Political Science major with minors in Human Rights & Humanitarian Affairs and Arabic, this internship enabled me to apply my academic studies to meaningful work in public policy and community engagement.
In this role, I supported legislative initiatives through policy research, constituent correspondence, and community outreach. I attended congressional briefings and participated in weekly professional development sessions hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, each of which broadened my understanding of the legislative process and sharpened my commitment to effective public service.
Serving during the 119th Congressional Session provided a unique opportunity to witness policymaking firsthand, reinforcing my dedication to the mission of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and its emphasis on Social Action. This experience has also strengthened commitment to the Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF), whose mission to advance scholastic achievement, public service programs, and research initiatives focused upon African American women
I am profoundly grateful for the mentorship and knowledge gained throughout this experience. As I continue to pursue my studies and career in public policy, I remain committed to advocacy, public service, and contributing to a more just and equitable society for all.”
