August is Black Philanthropy Month

Launched in 2011, the annual recognition of August as Black Philanthropy Month (BPM), is a time to encourage giving, by people of the African Diaspora, to causes supporting work to aid people of the Diaspora. The theme of Black Philanthropy Month 2023 is “Love in Action”. The month is reflective of the principle of “Ubuntu”, “I am because we are.” It is this clarion call of humanity toward others that encourages giving to non-profit organizations such as Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF}. With your donations, DREF can continue to provide scholarships, educational programs and charitable engagement. Since 1967, DREF has been creating possibilities and improving lives.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 13, 1913, by 22 collegiate women at Howard University to promote academic excellence and provide assistance to those in need. The Founders of Delta Sigma Theta envisioned an organization committed to sisterhood, scholarship, service, and addressing the social issues of the time.

Since its founding, Delta Sigma Theta has become one of the preeminent service-based sororities, with more than 300,000 initiated members and over 1,000 chartered chapters worldwide.
